It is impossible to describe the landscape of Los Vélez in one single catch phrase.
Around every corner or behind each mountain you’ll find a completely different landscape.
From the pine forests near María to the dry desert-
The major part of this area is declared a Natural Park;

The local countryside has a wide variety of wildlife including wild boar, foxes, badgers, wild cat, but also many species of birds of prey such as eagles and vultures that live and breed here. All this makes for beautiful and exciting walks in the ever changing and sometimes challenging scenery.

There are Museums in most towns of Los Vélez, the largest being the Miguel Guiraro Regional in Vélez Rubio with a permanent exhibition on the history of Los Vélez and the Iberian Peninsula in general. The museum does also have temporary exhibitions either of local artist or local craftsman. You can find further details and addresses of the museums on the “tourist information” page.
